Build your first app

You will create a working app on OnMicro.AI by describing what you want in plain language. The App Builder drafts the app for you; you review the result, make a few tweaks, and try it in Preview.

  1. Open your dashboard at onmicro.ai/dashboard.
  2. Click Create App in the top navigation, or Create your first app if your dashboard is empty.

You land on the Build tab for a new, private app titled Untitled App. The left panel shows App settings; the center shows App Details and a welcome card.

Step 2 — Describe what you want to build

Section titled “Step 2 — Describe what you want to build”

In the welcome card, Describe what you want to build:

  1. Type a short description in the text box. Be specific about the learner experience — for example:

Build me a multiple-choice quiz generator. The learner enters a topic and grade level, then gets five questions with four answer choices each.

  2. Or click one of the starter ideas to fill the box (for example, Build me a Multiple Choice Question Generator), then edit the text if you like.

  3. Click Continue with App Builder.

The welcome card closes and the App Builder panel opens on the right. Your description is sent automatically.

Checkpoint: You should see App Builder at the top of the right panel, with the subtitle AI-powered app generation, and your message in the chat.

Step 3 — Wait while App Builder drafts your app

Section titled “Step 3 — Wait while App Builder drafts your app”

App Builder works in the background:

  1. It may show Thinking (click to expand) while it plans.
  2. It posts a short plan in plain language, then updates your app.
  3. When finished, you see App updated successfully under the reply.

Checkpoint: New sections and fields appear in the center of the Build tab — for example, text inputs, dropdowns, or an AI Response block. Your app is saved automatically; you may briefly see Saving… in the header.

If App Builder cannot help with your request (for example, a question unrelated to building apps), it replies with a brief notice instead of changing your app. Rephrase your request to describe the app you want.

Use the App Builder chat to iterate:

  1. Type what to change in the box at the bottom — for example:

Add a boolean toggle for “Include answer explanations.”

  2. Press Enter to send ( Shift+Enter for a new line).

  3. Wait for App updated successfully again.

If a change is not what you wanted, click Undo in the App Builder header to restore the app to before the last AI update. You can undo up to the last several changes in your session.

To reopen App Builder after closing it, click the App Builder button on the right side of the Build tab.

  1. In the App Details card at the top of the Build tab, click the title area.
  2. Replace Untitled App with a clear name learners will recognize.
  3. Add a short description under the title — this text appears on the run screen when someone opens your app.

Changes save automatically.

  1. Click Preview in the center navigation bar.
  2. Walk through the app as a learner would: fill in fields and click Continue (or Evaluate on scored steps) to move through each section.
  3. Confirm the flow matches what you described.

If something is wrong, switch back to Build, adjust with App Builder or by editing individual fields, then preview again.

You created an app from a description, refined it in chat, named it, and tested it in Preview. Your app is private by default.

Next: Share your app to publish it with a link or embed code, or open the Share tab to change privacy settings.
